Spelnda is bad for everyone!! It is a by-product of processing sugar. It's the Frankenstein stuff that is created. If you eat sugar eat organic unprocessed sugar. Use honey to sweeten instead. Just stay away from artificial sweetener altogether! If you are diabetic then try things sweetened with alcohol sugar. It's not going to hurt the baby or cause fetal alcohol syndrome. Did you know that doctors only get a semester of nutrition in medical school? Most of the time they are simply out of their element when it comes to the heart of nutrition. I hate that, but it's true. Most of the education they get is for other very important things, but nutrition has not been that important because the drug companies are loving ther fact that they can come up with a pill to solve it all. Don't blame the docs, but blame the bureaucrats! You are better off sticking to no sugar over fake sugar.

They say it is safe, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I eat or drink something with splenda, it makes me violently ill since I got pregnant. I never experienced this before, but I think my body is trying to protect the baby from it. So, now, I don't care if they say it is safe or not - I am totally convinced that it is bad or else the baby wouldn't be rejecting it.

Yes, splenda is safe AND it's the ONLY safe low calorie sweetner on the market. That's why you're not supposed to drink diet soda, or anything like that. Read Eating well when you're expecting and talk to your doctor. My doctor agreed with the book 100%! Other low cal sweetners can cause mild to serious birth defects or pre term labor! Good Luck!

in case you think of approximately it sugar is all organic. Splenda is sugar that has been ripped aside and chemically more advantageous with who is familiar with what. particular its undesirable for you and unborn babies. i do no longer think of a individual could desire to nutrition ordinary, consume what you like numerous situations an afternoon in small parts and walk, run, circulate. The extra you do it the extra capacity you should do it.

Click on the links at the bottom that outline the problems with different sweeteners

Here is an excerpt about Sucralose (Splenda):

Of the few human studies which have been conducted, one focusing on diabetics using sucralose showed "a statistically significant increase in glycosylated hemoglobin (Hba1C), which is a marker of long-term blood glucose levels and is used to assess glycemic control in diabetic patients." The FDA itself has stated that "increases in glycosolation in hemoglobin imply lessening of control in diabetes."74
It is not only diabetics who need worry about the safety of sucralose. Research conducted with rats, mice and rabbits has shown that sucralose consumption can cause shrinking of the thymus gland (up to 40 percent shrinkage), enlargement of the liver and kidneys, atrophy of lymph follicles in the spleen and thymus, increased cecal weight, reduced bodily growth rate, decreased red blood cell count, hyperplasia of the pelvis, extension of gestational periods in pregnancy, decreased fetal body weights and placental weights, and diarrhea. According to the FDA’s "Final Rule" report on sucralose, it was considered to be "weakly mutagenic in a mouse lymphoma mutation assay."75

Here is an excerpt about aspartame:

"Problems associated with aspartame consumption are neatly summarized in Nourishing Traditions. "Aspartame. . . is a neurotoxic substance that has been associated with numerous health problems including dizziness, visual impairment, severe muscle aches, numbing of extremities, pancreatitis, high blood pressure, retinal hemorrhaging, seizures and depression. It is suspected of causing birth defects and chemical disruptions in the brain.

"Researchers at Utah State University found that even at low levels aspartame induces adverse changes in the pituitary glands of mice. The pituitary gland is the master gland upon which the proper function of all biochemical processes depend."

I'm 31 weeks and have gestational diabetes and my dietician actually recommends splenda over Nutrisweet or Equal...Splenda doesn't have aspartame either...which Nutrisweet and Equal do have...aspartame is bad.

I was told not to take artificial sweetners when i was pregnant as tthe chemical that is used to make them can turn into dangerous chemicals inside your body and this can affect the baby.
