I saw it a number of years ago, it was about a ritual a town had every year. The movie presented an interesting conflict about the woman who was looking forward to the event, very excited about the whole process, thinking that she would be doing the "stoning," not the recipient. The movie showed how her attitude changed about the whole event when her family received the "lucky lottery ticket," meaning one member of her family was the victim, deteremined by a second drawing. At that time, she was then pleading with everyone to stop the process she had favored earlier. The film was a statement on how easy it is to endorse a point of view that you did not feel would ever affect you personally, and how quickly your ideas can change when the actions directly deal with you or your family.

Yes, it comes on the Lifetime channel all of the time. The girl who used to play Felcity was the daughter.
They did a lottery every year to control the population. The person who picked the unlucky paper was stoned in front of and by the town villagers.

The movie Kate T. saw was It Can Happen to You about the lottery - no way the same movie. What I want to know is why they showed it in Group Assembly in High School. Seems kind of gruesome.

Yeah, i liked that movie. I had to read the book in high school and they showed us the movie after. Kerri Russell was in it (she is the girl who's mother was stoned to death). That used to really happen. They show it on lifetime sometimes. That is one of those movies that will stick in my head because usually the lottery is a good thing, and not in this case, lol. They did that because they thought if they didnt stone someone every year, their crops wouldn't grow that year. I dont know, small towns scare me, lol.

Sure i do it had rosie perez and nicholas cage in it . at least the one I saw did . I do not remember anything about any stoning though. This one was about a waitress and a cop . The cop bought a lottery ticket and he left one of the tickets as a tip for the waitress.Well he won and she tried to cash in the ticket and his wife found out and she got upset so he had to try to get the ticket back. Good luck and god bless.

Suicide isn't the main suitable answer have faith me! you recognize there are human beings around the community which will help. bypass to the police station, touch grandparents, aunts or uncles, cousins, heck bypass to a homeless shelter! do in basic terms no longer stop on existence because of this, it potential that god has lost yet another stable soul.
