I don't think there is a direct law stating that you have to pay but they still make us pay nonetheless. It is definitely a bunch of crap though. Pay your taxes or go to jail.

The 16th amendment gives congress th authority to collect taxes. The IRS code passed by congress lays out those taxes among many others including the Social Security Act. Many people raise questions aboust legality or if the 16th amendment was actually ratified. Some of these I agree with. However until a judge also agrees the courts say you must pay taxes and that is all that matters. Anyone who says you don't are wrong. Some peole have won in criminal courts in front of a jury but juries do not create law or set precedent for interpretation of law. Another thing to keep in mind is that even when the IRS loses a criminal trial the then take you to tax court in front of only a judge no jury and you lose you don't go to jail but you do owe fines, penalties, interest, and the original tax.

It's an amendment to the constitution. I'm not certain exactly which amendment it is, but it states it part that the government shall collect a tax from all citizens. That's just income tax. Social Security tax was adopted into law by president Roosevelt in the 1940s.

Check the IRS website. There are plenty of court cases that would back the IRS's ability to collect taxes. I personally know a person that refused to pay about 30,000 in taxes and will end up paying over 130,000 because of it. It is best to pay.

There are about a bazillion laws that state you have to pay taxes, lol. Don't expect to find it worded that way in the Constitution, except, I believe, it does authorize Congress to "levy taxes".
