I don't have tracing paper but I would like to try to keep the pattern intact so that I can use it to make other sizes later....any suggestions? I'd really like to get started on this today

My mother used to sew almost all of my clothing. She bought multiple size patterns so she could make the same dress in a different size for my little sister. She would make the dress from an old bed sheet the first time she used the pattern, so she could be sure it would fit. If she was using the smaller sizes, she would simply use straight pins to fold the larger size lines back out of the way, then she didn't have to cut the pattern. Good luck.

It's a bit tedious, but if you don't want to cut the patter, use tracing paper (the kind that makes colored marks on the fabric) and a tracing wheel to go around the outline that you want.

I have also in a pinch traced patterns off onto newspaper. Don't use it with light-colored fabric, though, it bleeds.
