same reason they are straight.
that's what they are attracted to. you can't change that. any more than you can change who YOU are attracted to. (ie -- you just didn't get up one morning and make a list of who and what YOU would be attracted to, did you? you're just attracted to whomever you happen to find attractive, right?)
and, you can even take it past sexual orientation...
have you ever met a straight person who had some other attraction that you didn't understand? like someone who is attracted to fat people? or really skinny people? or only people with really dark skin? i know a gal who only likes guys with beards...
it goes on and on. you can't control what "floats your boat" -- you may not understand it, but not understanding it doesn't make it invalid.

There are not any credible psychological or medical studies that conclude homosexuality is a choice or an illness. By credible I mean that the results/conclusions are accepted by the American Psychological Association (APA) and/or the American Medical Association (AMA) - or other internally recognized counterparts.
So again, the answer is that gays and lesbians are gay or lesbian because that's who they are - just like tall or short people. It's that simple.

Beacause that is what WE chose to do! I have been on both sides of the fence and I am soo happy on the side I'm on it's unreal! I think people should just get used to it because it is never going to go away! If you allow yourself to truly be happy you will amaze you self on what events fallow(guy or girl)!!

Why are you straight? Why is your hair brown, blond, black, etc? Why are your eyes blue, brown, or green? It is just the way you are. I do not believe that it is a learned trait as we see same sex interaction in other animals including primates.
