Who can I complain to about the hole in the ceiling in my University accomadation??

Due to damp a large chunk of the ceiling on the stairway has fallen away, and more seems to fall daily, the halls office don't seem to care and I don't want it spreading to my room as it drips.

Ask them again and if they don't listen, file a complaint to the head office.

Your university will have a department that deals with its buildings. Normally this will be called something like 'property division' or 'estates department', and will be listed separately in the University's entry in the phone book.

This department will normally be responsible for anything to do with maintenance of the structure around the campus.

Your Student Union might have an officer who compiles and chases student complaints about the facilities provided by the Uni, especially if it's a common problem, or it's difficult to report & slow to get anything done.

Do you have an R.A.? Try talking to them. Also many dorms have a person who is in charge of the whole sha-bang, you can try to get in touch with them. Have you tried contacting maintenance yourself? That is another option. Also contact the department that handles room and board as well.

The hall monitor doesn't care.....huh......Well then you have to go to his 'boss'. Call the student union. Or comlpain the people that monitor the building, not the hall. They are usually located at the entrance to the building. If this doesn't work, tell your parents they'll know who to call.
