OK here is the deal. I know this girl that will be 17 this weekend. She already has a baby that is a year old. She is now pregnant again. She has a job and also goes to school. Her dad pulls her hair and both parents call her names all the time. She wants to move out and live with the daddy of the baby so she can get away from her parents. She is really unhappy where she is. How can she go about getting emancipated? What would happen if she "ran away" with her baby? Please help

Have her call the "Boys Town" hotline. They can give her a lot of info.

She needs an attorney to go to the Superior Court, and file emancipation papers.

Actually, she could move out and the courts won't do a damn thing. When you are seventeen, the courts won't even bother 95% of the time because by the time you go through all of the courts, etc., she'll legally be an adult anyway.

I can't say for sure about nebraska - but in most states having a child and keeping it ( not putting it up for adoption or giving coustody away) automaticly emancipates you

She could petition the court or talk to the child welfare people and see what happens.
