I know it varies due to how many playoff games are actually played, etc., but could you give me an estimate on when the game normally is? Or when the championship playoff games start?

HA! I wish a wedding....haha
Anyway I'm actually getting tickets for something else for my boyfriend, but I just wanted to make sure it didn't interrupt with some serious playoff games.

The NHL has the longest playoff season in pro sports (and season is the right word) at two months: there are four rounds and all are best-of-7 series unlike the NBA (5, 7, 7, 7) or baseball (5, 7, 7). At an average of 14-16 days per series, that's two series per month and four rounds over two months.
For decades, the regular season usually ended at the end of a calendar month. When the NHL had 21 teams and fewer regular season games, that meant the season ended in March and the Playoffs ended in May. Now the regular season ends in April and the Stanley Cup is awarded by the end of June.
Back in the six team era, pre-1967, teams played 50 games per year (10 games per month) plus a two round playoff, so the season was only seven months from training camp to the cup. Now it's a ten month marathon and players stay in shape all year.
I would bet many players were actually glad to have the 2005 season off; it may have taken a year out of their careers then, but it probably added a year to the end of their careers, especially to players who might have missed games in 2005 due to injuries.

They have to play 40 games throughout the season, and at least one final game to get their names engraved on the Stanley Cup, for example, last season Dominick Haesek didn't play in the finals, but because he played during the season, he was listed on the cup. Also, Darren Helm was also listed on the cup because he played during the finals, but did not play during the season, because he was playing with Michigan State. The rings are solely based on who the owner wants to give them to. Usually everyone who has played during the season gets one, but like I said, its based on the owner. I'm not too sure little Stanley Cups; I would assume they're just like the rings.

Hi There is three ways. One game in the Finals 40 games dressed in the regular season. Be petitioned by your team to have name on the cup. As for the add ones, I believe that is up to ownership on who gets what. I believe there is even different rings for different levels of people involved. As in mail room guy doesn't get the super cool Players ring. Thank You ps Hasek technicly played in the Finals as he was dressed, he just did not log any ice time. As long as a player is dressed and on the offical game roster it counts as being in the game. A good example of last years is Kopecky who played in the regular season, but missed all the playoffs due to injury.
