Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children . . .?

Question

Can anyone explain the details in Final Fantasy VII needed to fully understand Advent Children? Like how were Sephiroth and Cloud born, or where did Vincent & the rest of them came from? The general story would also help.

Sorry, I really can't play the game, I can't get a Play Station :(

lol. alright heres what happened in 7.

Avalanche employed the help of Cloud, a mercenary, to help them destroy a Mako reactor. (Mako was a type of energy). They go back to their base afterwards. Cloud finds Tifa, a long lost childhood friend. She mentions a promise about when he said he was leaving to join SOLDIER that he would save her whenever she needed help.

After destroying another Mako Reator something goes wrong. Cloud gets separated from them. Cloud meets Aeris. Aeris is what is called an Ancient, meaning she can hear the lifestream etc. Shin-Ra (the energy corporation/guys that run the world) want Aeris. eventually they kidnap her. Cloud and gang go to rescue her. They free Red 13. he joins them. Sephiroth kills everyone in the Shin-Ra building except them. they flee to Kalm. separate again. After awhile Yuffie joins the team. fast forward a little bit. They acquire the Black (Meteor) Materia. Cait Sith turns out to be a spy so he hands it over to Shin-Ra. He stays with the team by having the upper hand (sorry i dont remember what he had/did). They chase Sephiroth/JENOVA around for awhile. Vincent joins the team in the basement of the Shin-Ra mansion. where Sephiroth originally discovered the truth about JENOVA and his mother. Cloud remembers how Sephiroth killed everyone Nibelheim, Cloud and Tifa's hometown. Cloud has false memories. he remembers going there as a member of SOLDIER. Tifa doesnt remember him ever being there. some other events i cant remember.

EVENTUALLY Sephiroth Kills Aeris. Cloud cries. they chase Sephiroth around some more. Eventually Sephiroth uses the Black Materia and summons meteor. then a force field protects Sephiroth from being harmed. Ultima Weapon is on the loose. Cloud and gang fight and mostly defeat it. Shin-Ra uses the Mako Cannon, obliterates Ultima Weapon and demolishes Sephiroth's shield. you go to the Northern Crater. fight Sephiroth. Kill him, again. ending credits, basically showing part of the opening of AC. where the planet stops the meteor from destroying the earth.

To fully understand the movie would be best if you played and/or heard of the Final Fantasy VII game for PlayStation. That has some details to the characters.

I would recommend playing FF7 first before you view/play the spin-offs as it'll be easier to understand. And I don't want to spoil anything but I'm sure you could pick up a strategy guide. BradyGames likes to publish spoilers. And the wiki for it is in-depth too. As for things like Dirge of Cerberus and perhaps, in a way, Advent Children, it's probably easier to understand by taking it out of the timeline.

You really have to have played the game or read a script or something to understand it. It doesn't explain much by itself - my friend had to keep asking me who people were and what the heck was happening.
