He was an ACME sales representative, who got a commission for all of the roadrunners he could destroy and eat.
The product was free, but had to kill the roadrunner to get paid.
As for why he didnt buy dinner, they were in the desert dude.

(reads over the other answers) Pfeh - now I know you need an honest answer.

Wile E. Coyote was always after the Roadrunner because he enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. He didn't care that the Roadrunner seemed to be uncatchable - it was the idea of the chase, the thrill of exhileration as he pursued an unattainable goal. That was the whole idea - reaching for something he could never quite get, and the challenge of trying to figure out a way to make his dreams real.

He was a coyote, and he bought those products on credit.
I'm sure he was also asked to test out some of them and he didn't buy them, he was testing to see if ACME's prototype's worked.

ACME is the only company that delivers to the middle of the dessert because of its use of toon employees.

He had a very steady 8-5 job trying to capture sheep from Sam Sheepdog's flock. He was employed using the alias "Ralph Wolf," and the paycheck he earned under this pseudonym was enough to allow him to actively pursue the Roadrunner on the weekends.

As for why he didn't just buy dinner for himself instead of chasing the Roadrunner, he considered the Roadrunner to be a rare delicacy, well worth pursuing.

Who cares? The whole point of the cartoon was Wile E.'s crazy ACME-influenced ideas against Road Runner's smarts. In fact, Wile E. isn't the "super genius", Road Runner is.

Excellent question. If he had the cash for products he should have just bought himself dinner, or a gun and shot the road runner. He obviously didn't have job because he was too obsessed with Roadrunner. Maybe he sold drugs on the side.

He probably could have, but couldn't find a place that sells road runner. There was an episode where he explained why he always chased the road runner. His explanation was to explain how delicious road runner was and how every single part of a road runner had a different flavor. He then proceeded to pull out a diagram and explain what each flavor was.

Because when you're in the middle of nowhere, the sun alters your brain, you see? And road runner is mighty tasty in the middle of nowhere. He probably gets paid a lot to allow himself to get recorded trying to catch said road runner. And the Acme is free, I believe. They're advertising it and they don't have to pay for it. This is a retarded answer.

Have you ever had road runner? It's pretty damn tasty, I can see why Wiley always tried to catch one.
