I get at least 2-3 a day when home...another 3-5 are left on the answering machine....Are there ways to block these polical harassing calls that back bite each other? Also, why does anyone think a celebrity appearance will make you want to vote for a politician? Can't wait until this Election day is over......

It should be banned. It amounts to intrusion into the personal freedom. An American citizen could file a constitutional petition before the Supreme Court urging it to protect his Fundamental Right of Freedom to think and decide under the Bill of Rights provisions of the American Constitution.

I've wondered the same thing, but politicians and charities are exempt from the No-Call lists.

However...during my state's primaries I had two pollsters call. When they asked if I would mind answering some of their questions both times I half jokingly said, "Only if you promise to help me pass legislation for a No-Call list including you guys and charities." This election I have received maybe six phone calls, total! I have heard friends talking about all the calls they are receiving and we have the same political leanings, so....I suggest you try my "joke" and see what happens.

Edit: I forgot the celebrity endorsement. I find that amazing, but then there is a theory that a lot of us don't want to think for ourselves and we are too stupid to know that famous doesn't mean intelligent. ; )

I know the circus around voting is nuts, but be glad we have the freedom to vote. No matter what anyone says, it is a great privilege. (There was a time when you had to own land in order to cast a ballot!)

Edit: My telephone number was unlisted until early this year. I still had tons of phone calls until the above story.

Some people claim that they shouldn't be called, but you usually are if you are a registered voter and especially if you are registered with the party of the candidate. Unaffiliated voters get a lot of calls during close races too.
But this has been challenged and falls under the purview of Freedom of Speech. This kind of speech is protected. Some areas might be able to get away with limiting when you can call, but even that might be a stretch.
No "celebrity" endorsements make a difference to me one way or another.
If your phone number is unlisted, you are less likely to get called.

I dunno...if it's a human being on the other end I kind of enjoy giving them an earful.

If it's a recording, I just hang up.
