my brothers girlfriend recently told him she was pregnant (3wks ago) then she complaned about having a sore stomach(tues), went to the docs then they apparently sent her to hosp for a scan, there was no heart beat. she started bleeding on wed, but he has doubts she was ever pregnant, he never saw the pregnancy test, she never told anybody she was pregnant not even her mum, so when my brother ask to go with her for a final scan nxt wk she refused, said she wanted to do it herself, i foned her telling her to get it sorted or i would she agreed then yesterday she was passing clots docs sent her to hospital again and they sucked it out (her words not mine) but didnt fone my brother till after it was all done. so what i really want to know is, is she lying? does her story sound right, would the hospital not keep her in if she went throught that procedure about 5 ish last nite ( she called him about 8 pm) hes going mad not knowing?

well just as i was thinking she might be telling the truth she appeared yesterday with a 'scan picture' ( of a dead baby, i dont think so!) and after talking to other people about it i more than convinced shes a liar now. my brothers saw the picture and its had the top part cut off ( the date etc) she already has a 3 year old 2 someone else so i could be her old scan .

hi
if the story she is tellin ur brother is true then what she had done was a d&c which is where they remove the dead baby or the rest of a baby after a miscarriage with a d&c u dont stay in hospital as it is a quick procedure and theres no need to stay in
do give my regards to ur brother if it was ture
good luck and best wishes xx

She could be telling the truth, although I find it a bit weird that she didn't tell anyone in her family and refused to let the baby's father go with her for a scan.
After a missed miscarraige they usually do a D&C to clean out any remnants of foetal tissue (sorry I know thats a horrible phrase but its not really big enough or developed enough to be a baby at that stage) etc, womb lining and so forth which the body has not passed on its own. I don't have any experience myself but I don't beleive they keep you in for that long as its not a major operation - the pregnancy would only have been very very early - we're talking a tiny embryo here not a full size baby, and the D&C is a quick and simple procedure. I'm not even sure whether they use a General Anaesthetic for it.
The closest thing I've had to a D&C is a Laparoscopy - where they put you under General Anaesthetic, make a small incision in your naval and put a camera in to examine your reproductive bits (as part of fertility investigation). I went home two hours after coming round from the GA! I hate hospitals and begged them to let me go home as soon as a I came round and they examined me and said that as long as I felt OK it was no problem.
So I guess if someone can come out of hospital that quickly after a Laparoscopy they could do the same for a D&C.

How far gone was she?
I had a scan when I was 5-6 weeks pregnant with my daughter, there was no heartbeat - because it had not yet developed into the muscle that it was to become.
I had a baby daughter 8 months later and all was fine! She is a healthy 4 year old.
If I was pregnant and having pain and in a relationship, then I would for sure tell the daddy - out of respect. I would want him there when it was going on for support and keep him informed ALL the way. Sounds like she was either lying or just a total B I T C H.

it sounds plausible, i had a miscarriage last yr and just being pregnant and scaredcanmess with ur mind, having pains and starting to bleed REALLY messes u up.
I started bleeding, had a scan and no heartbeat was found and the sac had left the uterine wall. i was advised to go home take painkillers and rest but to go back to the Drs if i felt worse or had worries. My pain was terrible and the bleeding stoppedafter only a day. I went to Drs and then had to go for a DnC I went in at 11 and was home by half past 5.
Give her the benefit of the doubt the Drs wouldn't tell u if she was pregnant because of confidentiality.

I see a number of possibilities.
A) She isn't lying, and she really had a miscarriage. She may not have known she was pregnant and was in alot of pain. So she went to the doctor, and they preformed a routine pregnancy test, and the conclusion was she was having a miscarriage.
B) She may have known she was pregnant, and is internalizing the emotional pain. She may have known and didn't want to say anything yet because of just this - the possibility of miscarriage early in pregnancy.
C) She found out she was pregnant, and is using this as a cover for a planned abortion.

I really don't know whether she is lying or not but i know when my sister miscarried they kept her over night to make sure things were gonna be fine after she had a d&c she got to come home the next day so yes they can keep you over night if they have to but maybe she wasn't lying you can sneak behind her back and call her doctor and ask if she was really pregnant or not thats what i would do

Its possible both ways. Some hospitals keep a patient in after a D&C some dont. If shes lying she needs professional help!

sounds strange . i really think they would have investigated more when they found no heart beat they wouldn` t just send her home [ i dont think] and for a d*c unless things have changed she would have been keep in the night previous to the op because she would need to have been fasting beforehand,, she wouldn` t nessecarily be kept in long after op [ i would imagine more than 3 hours]but definately before op ,,[ as i say unless things have changed] this is just my thoughts on it i dont want to say shes lying

It doesn't sound like she lieing. She may just be upset she's losing it and is just keeping the pain to herself. They don't keep you overnight for a miscarriage, once they take it out, if they even have to the most they do is give you pain killers and send you home.
