I take the Nature Made Multi Prenatal.
It is wonderful - does not make me nauseous at all.

A good prenatal vitamin will contain at least 400mcg of folic acid along with various other vitamins, and can be purchased at walmart or a drug store without a prescription. A woman's multivitamin with 400mcg of folic acid is also fine if you are trying to conceive.
The reason that the folic acid is so important is because the neural tube forms early and folic acid is known to combat neural tube defects like spina bifida. This damage is done sometimes before a woman even knows she is pregnant, which is why the emphasis is on taking vitamins before you conceive.
It is still a good idea to see an OB for a TTC visit, he/she may want to check your rubella titre and some other bloodwork as well as do a general health survey/give advice.

most pre-natal vitamins are the same. Some have more calcium or folic acid, but not usually a huge difference. If you're buying them yourself, without a prescription, you can just go to the drugstore and get the over the counter prenatal vitamins. they work just as well.

I don't like taking vitamins very much- they have always made me feel funny. However, I started to feel like my body needed something. I found that flinstone vitamins did the trick and they are completly healthy. Most importantly, they didn't make me feel funny.

My doctor told me that OneSource from Walmart is fine & I have been on them for about a year. They are $5.00 a bottle which isn't bad at all.
