It has got to be Christopher Reeve on the movie front. He was inspirational as Superman. I loved him so much and I have passed my facination with him onto my daughter! She owns all of the moives on DVD and loves them all - even Roth.
On the television front I would have to say Dean Cane did a good job, he was sincere as the big blue man. The story lines left a great deal to be desired, but he was good as the caped one.

Christopher Reeve is the one, and only, Superman. No other actor has ever been able to fill the role quite like he did. Reeve had a flair for it, the right personality, and the right set of morales to pull it off and make people really believe, that HE was Superman.

Christopher Reeve because he had the look, he pulled off the dorky Clark Kent role and the hero that is Superman to perfection. If he had been around when Siegel and Shuster created Superman he would have been the model.

For me it's Christopher Reeve.
When Superman 2 came out the local cinema showed 1&2 back to back, and I really did believe a man could fly!
I was only 12 at the time, and although the effects look pretty ropey today, I was fooled!
Was so sad to see him in the wheelchair after his horrific accident.

Christopher Reeve - he was really the first to play Superman who actually looked like the comic book character. His heroic strength to struggle back after his accident proved he really had the stuff and truely was a Super man.

Christopher Reeve - greatest actor to put the red cape and blue tights. Brandon Routh - He's no Reeve, but he did his role very well. George Reeves - immortal legend.
