If you can show improvement now, and sustain it, you will have a much better chance to get into the school you want. Most colleges and universities will look at your grades in your junior year, because those are the most recent ones available. If your sophomore grades are good too, that makes your case even stronger.
So sit up straight, pay attention, take part in classes, ask questions if you don't understand something, do your homework, do the extra credit, and just keep in mind that CSU is possible, is really, truly doable, and that the extra work is worth it. Who but yourself is the best person to spend all this work and time on?
Oh, and don't forget to talk to the guidance counselor at your school now to find out about their admissions requirements. It would be tragic if you did all the academic work, had stellar grades, but missed out because you didn't have some relatively easy requirement, like 10 hours of community service time, or you were short 1 credit of math, for example.

You are only a Sophomore. Jump on the good grade train right now before its too late. It is very important that you establish good study habits now. Once it is college time, if you dont know how to study, take tests, and do homework you will have a very difficult time when you enter college. College offers many diversions of its own such as new friends, drinking parties, new found freedom. If you cant handle the academics, you sure wont handle the academics plus the other bennies of college. If your grades dont pick up you may consider a communtiy college that is not quite as rigorous as a 4 year college in order to learn how to adjust to real academics. Best bet...get going now and turn those grades around.

Yes. Showing improvement always counts. Work on your grades. And the college of your choice now may not be the college of your choice when you graduate. Keep an open mind.

you need to talk to your academic advisor to find out exactly what you need to do, and how many credits you will need.
