In such questions, it's usually helpful to give a summary (or links) to each of the systems, for those of us who don't happen to know off the top of our heads how all three countries work.

This is especially true where a country (such as the US) may have different systems for municipal versus state versus federal courts. So, when comparing the US system, which one of a half-dozen would you want us to use?
