Why are people against income tax? How do you think we have libraries, fireman, asphalt streets, traffic light

Let's get rid of income taxes for 3 months and see what happens. You'd be driving over potholes, traffic would go crazy, if your house burned...oh well, and you can forget about anyone arresting a person who broke into your house.

A lot of the things that you mention are funded in most places by property taxes, not income taxes. Where I live, it's property tax and a local option sales tax that pays for the library, pays for fire protection, paves the streets, etc. These are local services.

Federal income tax receipts account for about half of the federal budget.
The largest expenditures of the federal government are:
1) pay interest on the public debt
2) fund the military
3) Health & Human services (mainly medicaid and medicare)
4) Social security

Some individual states also levy an income tax and/or a state sales tax.
Also, some federal money comes back to individual states to be administered by the states (medicaid is one example; road-building is another).

well the tax on gasoline pays for road building and repair, I don't need some one to protect me in my own home I have a gun so the police would only have to come collect the body of a dead criminal. and the federal government does not fund libraries state governments do. and most firehouses are locally funded and manned by volunteer firemen.

A lot of people cry out patriotism and support the troops, but when it's up to them to give of themselves they suddenly do not want to do their part. It seems to me that the ones who have a little more cry the loudest.
