FAVOURITE!!!
As a teacher Im actually concerned as to how the Americans started spelling things this way, Same with words like colour (color) and haemoglobin (hemoglobin). I have the impression it was probably people spelling it wrong, especially in schools. So instead of spending time teaching the kids how to spell properly, they merely changed the words so that the kids were now getting the answers right. I hope I'm wrong, because it's a very scary thought if I'm right!

In the UK with a U, in the US without. The same with colour.
Did you know they only changed the way to to spell things so they could cut their ties with the old country? This also applies to driving on the right, they only did it cos we drive on the left.
