India is an absolutely democratic country. Its citizens are free to do any thing they want. Women have more say in all matters than men. In fact there is no other country in this world where woman have so much power as in India.
It is the same as US but slightly backward in amenities because what ever fund is allot ed for development and most of the tax collected are swallowed by our politicians in one way or the other.

:) Yes, I agree with your observations that there are lots of Indians in US. But did you observe that majority of them are highly educated and are well placed.

India is a free country. Women have rights in India, ofcourse can't compare it to US - as we have different cultures. Just for point, if you don't know, India have had a WOMAN head of state (equal to President in US), Ms Indira Gandhi. Talking about government - India is world's LARGEST DEMOCRACY.

India is a free country, is a rising economy. People come to US for better opportunity, thats it. That doesn't mean people run away from India, like people from other countries like China or Mexico do.

You should do more research about INDIA - try yahoo, google or wikipedia.

It is a free country. Everyone is left to his or her own enterprise. But just like any Asian country, it has cultures and traditions which are still being practised up to now. This makes India unique from other Western countries. That is why it is called Incredible India.

If you mean "free" in terms of an open democracy with the vote available to all, then yes, India is free.

Women have all the same rights as in the US.

In fact, in terms of population India is the world's largest democracy.
