I think you should expect extreme positions in this type of forum. The answers here (even if some people had actually answered) would not be indicative of the general population. But people are probably more polarized right now due to the election and due to some extremely controversial subjects that have recently come up, including political scandals, new voting laws, and new laws restricting privacy and freedom.
However, the reason you weren't getting answers here is probably not because of your question, but due to the luck of the draw. Most answers come in the first few minutes, after that the questions scroll off the page. I am new here, and I figured out that by the time I get through typing, there are lots of answers ahead of me. So I found your question by using the sort function and sorted by fewest answers.
