I was thinking about getting a PSP. So I started looking around at all the great little things that come with it (graphics, games, etc.) But I figured it would be better to hear from others who actually have played one. Is the Psp worth paying the money for? What all is great about it? Thanks guys

I have one. It was expensive but I believe it was worth it. It's like this: portability is where the gaming industry's going to be in the future. There's a great future for the PSP simply because it's a Sony product. You really can't go wrong by purchasing a PSP; it's extremely powerful for its size. To my knowledge the graphics engine is the best in the portable business, in terms of speed and graphic quality. 2 Gb memery sticks are easy to find for the PSP, and that's a whole lot of space for video! Price probably won't go down all that much, so I don't see a reason to wait.
I do, however recommend a better battery. And you got to be careful with it; it is fragile.

I had both a PSP and a Nintendo DS Lite, and i can say with my hand on my heart that i hate the PSP with a passion. It has since been traded in. Whilst it might be novel being able to play movies, it can only play the specific PSP discs. Which cant be used on anything else. Frankly i see it as a waste of money buying a film on UMD and only being able to watch it on the PSP (which has a pathetic battery life anyway) where you could buy a normal DVD and watch it on a massive range of products, including now quite cheap portable dvd players. As for the games, whilst i have found some of the PSP games amusing for a while, i have been entertained to a far greater extent by my Nintendo DS which can also play all the previous GameBoy games. The DS is also alot sturdier and well built with alot less bugs in it (the square button PSP flaw for example) DS internet and wi-fi capabilities are also far more reliable. To sum up, dont buy a PSP, get a DS.

Besides...Unless Sony can conjure a hell of a lot of money from thin air, they are going to be bankrupt in under 3 years.

I have recently got a PSP. It has Internet which you can log on if you are at a certain location. It also plays movies and games. There isn't a large variety of games but then again the PSP did just come out. There is different packs that the PSP comes in, some cost more , some cost less. To me it's worth it. The main thing I like about it is its portable.

My partner has the PSP and i have the nintendo DS. The PSP's games i think are more for the older player. Great graphics and plays music well, my partner likes the fact in one of his games he can talk via a mic to his team mates (even though they sound like smurfs) I found the games are more action and more for adults, but the fact you can surf the net and hold a load of photos and music was a nice touch but my partner says he doesnt know anyone who uses it to surf the net, saying that you can now surf the net with the DS.
I would suggest you look at the games you can buy for the PSP. If your going to use it for music, internet, photos and action games then its worth it but for my game needs the DS was a better choice, but then again im a child at heart.

Also note that they no longer make movies for the PSP, you can however download movies and change the format so you can play on the DS.My partner made a mistake and brought the PSP which didnt come with the mic set, he cant find a mic to buy on its own, he had to borrow one from his friend so if you buy one buy one which comes with the mic/headphone/volume set thing : )

I say its Ok because of the graphics, movies, and internet connection.but I also think not because I hear the PSP breaks easily from a friend who broke hers by accident. But when I play mine I think most of the games on the PSP aren't very good.Unless its not about the gameplay to you.$250? I'd buy it if I wanted to(and I did).

Great system to play games on, it also has insane quality when you watch movies. very clear picture...
The games that have been coming out for it are a lot of fun
Siphon filter was great; lumines is another good game....
I think you should buy one, but make sure you get a 1 gig memory card if you plan to watch alot of movies on it.

also you might want to get one of those packages from best buy that come with extra buttons and a controller pad, when you put your psp in it it feals like your holding a ps2 controller, it is easy to play games that way

I have one it's very cool when you first get it. Its the only thing I did all last summer that involves video games. The first game I got with it was “Untold Legends”. That game is alright. However after a month or two I found It to be very boring. But if you go on vacations a lot and your one of the people in the passenger seats it’s the greatest thing in the world. Now that the price has been droped a little bit I say go get one.

Check out Youtube for some video reviews. When I was shopping around, a friend said, hands down: Nintendo DS Lite. It's smaller, has more games (and better games), and is less expensive. PSP is larger (well, yes, because of a larger screen), games are fewer, and the price is high.

The market has spoken: DS has outsold PSP by a factor of 10! (over 290,000 DS's sold, vs. 27,000 PSPs).

DS has two screens, and the lower one is a touch screen. DS is wi-fi enabled, allowing for multiplayer gaming, locally and online. A web browser coming out soon, so you can surf the web.

No, I haven't played PSP, but I'm just telling you what I found out on the web and from others.

Hope it helps.
