People Of Every Culture Have A Couple Of Nosey Specimens, But To Classify A Complete Culture As A Nosey Bunch, Would Be Considered Rather Difficult & Unreasonable

I think that all the cultures have nosy people...They all have there little old lady's that sit outside on the stoop checking every ones business. Every culture has there share of little blue haired old Lady's that sit perched in their windows to see what the neighbors are "Really" doing. The culture that I feel that is the nosest would have to be the Italians. My Great Grandmother was so nosy that she had binoculars and would look into the neighbors houses. If they were doing something that she thought was wrong she would throw curses on them. Then she would tell everyone in the neighborhood what she had seen. Of course she was always nice to their faces...lol, By the way, I just read the rest of your question that stated that the girl that you are referring to is Italian....lol,

I don't think there's a particular ethnic group that's nosier than others. Not that I've noticed. Maybe some groups are more outspoken than others. And maybe some groups could be more reserved.
Curiosity is a human trait. I wonder about people and things all the time. Also, have you ever noticed how many magazines and TV programs specialize in gossip about celebrities?
My parents taught me it's rude to voice every little question that pops into my head, though, especially when it's not my business.

Personally I have found that almost every culture deems it OK to be nosy about certain things - for instance in the USA it is acceptable to talk about how much you earn which is NOT a polite topic of conversation in most European cultures, there are other cultures that will quiz you about your family and marital status (for example a female friend of mine was asked by one of her Saudi students if she were married and when she answered "No" he replied "Oh, so then you are a virgin." Arabian cultures ask lots of questions because it's part of their culture - firstly to show interest in you and secondly because they only get close to or do business with people they know quite a bit about. I found the British talk and ask more openly about their sex lives....etc, etc.

Pretty much every culture has this problem, but I think that cultures where multiple generations live together would tend to have the most problems. In a situation like that it would be hard to keep anything to yourself and everyone is always comparing family members and friends to each other....they would have a lot of gossip fuel.

I dont know, there are nosy people in every culture......in response to the reply thegirl gave you,- that is the perfect example of people stereotyping a culture as an excuse for their actions. If you said something to that effect, she would have most likely not been happy about that.

She said that because Italians have big noses. Hence, nosey.

For the sake of not sounding stereotypical and predjudice like a lot of answers on here... I'm going to say EVERYONE is nosey.

No, it does not give her permission to be nosy! I don't think there's one particular culture that is most nosy, although Catholic countries are probably in general more nosy than non-Catholic countries. This is because they feel they are saving one another's souls by minding one another's business.
But the worst countries are the communist ones; there, nosiness has been raised to an institution. A large, powerful, and very demanding institution. They used to say that Soviet kids got two gifts in their life: one when they informed on Mommy, and one when they informed on Daddy.
The Russians threw out the communists, but not all countries have followed their lead.

I don't know. My neighbor is white (so am I) and she is incredibly nosey but I don't know what nationality she is. But most of the nosey people I know are white. I'm sure this is an individual thing but this is just my experience. I'm sure all cultures have their nosey ones. Weird.
