Maradona is, overall, not known by the general public of the USA. If you took an informal poll in front of your local supermarket the majority would not have the slightest idea who he was. The main reason behind this is that he's never made an attempt to become known by the USA. He never played there, he doesn't speak English, etc. Now, of course there are those who know about soccer and they know who he is, i mean he's always considered, if not the best player of all time, at least second best right behind Pele.

I am a lifelong US citizen. Sadly the game of football (soccer) is still not real widely followed here. For thos of us that do follow it however, of course he is known. In my opinion he is one of the two or three greatest players to play (that I know of). Sad ending to his career though.

Of course he is...by soccer fans. Probably not too much with the younger generation. They used to teach us the "maradonna spin" in soccer camps back in the day.

he should be known all around the world, if nobody heard about it in the US, then these people know nothing about soccer (no offense).
