Changing the scenery is good: you see new places, new people, new ways of life and stop thinking about your problems. I might travel when I'm upset or confused or when I have to take some big decisions. It helps to clear my mind. There are mountains near the place I live so it's a fast solution. I also travel to see art exhibitions or festivals, to visit relatives, to see new places I've only read about, to go to trainings and seminars, to make photos, to do shopping somewhere else (I once went shopping for groceries in another country: it was insane but totally worth it!), there are a million reasons to travel... but I do it because I love it: trains, planes, buses, whatever! I'd pack my stuff and go anywhere and anytime if I have a good reason for it! Not sure what that says about me psychologically though!

Nomads or early Caveman just used up a area resources of food and berries and went to the next area to tear up the fresh supply until he learned to plant and replenish the area.
You move note not to be bored and to learn things now in different areas work or social to survive in the City LIGHTS and when you have a new offer or a social need you move to a new area. You cant stay stuck in one area and need a change doubt it is more finanacial and family need that you end up where you are. You feel you can do better and be better and feel better so you make changes and you move a little or you move alot.

Variety of reasons. To make money; to learn more about people, cultures, and traditions; to see natural and man-made wonders; to have new experiences; to broden your horizon etc., In short, we travel to become the mature people.

Being an avid traveller myself, I believe we have an avid fasination with the unknown as well as the "grass is greener" syndrome.
