How old are you?
How long have you had your license?
How many cars have you wrecked?
How many tickets have you had?
Drinking & Driving? Responsible?
Maybe he has a good reason.
I can't understand why it is only 50 MPH, though.
It should be at least the speed limit of 55. Most Highways are 65.
That part sucks.
The part that doesn't is that he has reasons and he cares enough to keep you safe!!!
Also, it makes me sick to see how many people are telling you to lie. Any responsible mechanic will take one look at someone underage who asks that it be taken off or makes up some obvious story and probably laugh. Even better, they should take some info, like your name & number and then call your parents.
You are the child and things are done for a reason. Put on your big girl panties and suck it up!!!! You will understand when you have kids!!! Geesh....what if you find some way to disable it, you and your friends are speeding along, not paying attention and you get into an accident and kill one of them or someone else? Then how would you feel??? If you are in that big of a hurry, leave from where you are going a bit earlier to get to where you need to be on time.

What will your dad think when he finds out it's been removed?

I'm guessing he'd think it's safer if you didn't have a car at all. If you know how to remove it and he can't trust you to leave it alone he might just take away the car.

Think first.

The ONLY way this will work is if HE removes it himself. Either impress on him how safe of a driver you are or give him a really good reason why you need it off, like "such and such street is under construction and I have to take the freeway... see where I'm going?

When you are at the mechanics and you ask them how to remove it ask them to look for the GPS device. There is a program available that tracks your every move and speed of the vehicle from any computer. I bet you 10 bucks there is one on your car. I don't know what company has it but I am sure you can Google it and find out. This is the problem with parents today. They wonder why their kids graduate from high school- go to college, or not, and never ever return home. Tell you Dad to treat you like the young adult you are.

You don't. As far as I am concerned too many teens have drivers licenses.
My now deceased mom was a retired school bus driver. She drove for over 14 years in the same school district. She remembers seeing the teens come racing around the school buses after school. Some of them got into wrecks and sometimes they died. One of the students who rode her bus was hit and killed by a teen racing out of the high school parking lot.
The most wreckless and irresponsible drivers in my area are the teens, moreso if they are driving something with powerful engine. I hope your dad finds out what you are up to and sells your car.
And you don't need to be driving on the freeway it is far too dangerous.

he has done the right thing. go to a mechanic shop and have it removed, also ask the mechanic the tips on how to install/remove, like when ya move out, go a few distance away from home, where ya dad wont be seeing it. then uninstall it, then once near home, stop a bit far away where ya dad cant see ya, then install it and go park vehicle at ya home parking lot.

hope this helps. initially ya gotta spend for the mechanic guy though, sorry my answer makes ya spend, but few bucks only. just for asking the tips.

drive safe even on high speeds! buckle up.

I think the real issue here is about maturity. Trust that your parent is intune with you and that judgement is a carefully nurtured parameter of experience. Give it time to develop and mature. Bounderies are designed to be expanded as you demonstrate knowledge and apptitude and PATIENCE ! The reward for such endevers is a new level of respect and confidence. The issue of limitations will simply vanish in direct proportion to demonstrated abillity and responsabillity. Above all -COMMUNICATE!

Your Dad sounds like a smart guy! I wish more parents put limits on their kids! I think you are real lucky that he lets you drive a car at all. I give your dad a five star rateing!!!! Lets hope he finds many more things that he can do to keep you alive and grounded.

The only way to take it out is to take it to a shop and see if they can take it out. If you try to it yourself, and you don't know anything about cars, you will mess up your whole car. My dad threatened to put a governor on my car and truck so I can't go over 65, but he never went through with it. So I don't know what to tell you other than that you are stuck with until your dad takes it out, if he ever does.

there is a switch on those things somewhere that you can disable it. Go to your local mechanic and tell him it isn't working right or make up some lie. Get him to show you how it works and then you learn how to disable it yourself when your dad isn't around. Poor baby. Good luck!
