The leader of the 30 million member National Association of Evangelicals in the US has resigned after being accused of paying for sex with a man. The Reverend Ted Haggard, who is an adviser of the White House, said he would also temporarily step aside as head of his 14,000-strong New Life Church while his colleagues investigated the claims. Mr Haggard, who is known as a vocal opponent of same-sex marriages, denies the accusations. The claims were made by a man during a radio show in Denver, Colorado. In a statement to the New Life Church, Mr Haggard said he could "not continue to minister under the cloud created by the accusations". "I am voluntarily stepping side from leadership so that the overseer process can be allowed to proceed with integrity," he said. In an interview with KUSA-TV, Mr Haggard said he "never had a gay relationship with anybody". "I'm steady with my wife, I'm faithful to my wife," he said. I love it when people resort to ad hominem attacks because they can't conceal their disdain for an entire group of people long enough to ask a question based on more than empty generalizations.

Were you asking a real question or were you just ranting?

so the man is guilty , just because some one probable some one who wanted a minute of fame or asking for money, But is that not the American way,? Reminds me of one time we had a old man on the jury that kept holding out for a guilty verdict, when it was obvious the man could not have been guilty, The foreman of the jury ask him why he insisted on a guilty verdict, quote" he said if he had not been guilty the police would not have arrested him" This is common in our Judaical system today people do not think for them selves and believe every thing the police and prosecutors say , so they convict some one guilty or not,
Prosecutors most are not interested in justice , they only want convictions as each conviction puts another feather in their cap,
there are good honest policemen but, most just want to solve the crime, and any one who they can pin the crime on they will , look at the 47 men in Ill, who were convicted and executed later it was proven that 35 of them were not guilty, or the Rampart follies in Los Angles where the police put incriminating evidence on 100's of people, the constitution Say's "The prosecutors job is not merely to get a conviction , But, to see justice done," ,If you are ever called on to serve on a jury please inform the court of your feelings , and I sure hope you are never on a case if I am the defendant,

Regardless of the facts that are still not out yet you have convicted this man. Sorry but there is only 1/10 of 1% of the ministers or priests that are guilty of this type of crime. There is the same in every profession that are guilty of this.
If this man is found guilty of this act then yes he should not be believed or followed. By stepping down he acted in a responsible way to either have himself cleared or otherwise.

If you are asking why people would become Christians, it's because some people are insecure and need something to believe in to get them through life.

If you are asking why someone who is a Christian would fall for the lies of someone leading an obviously sinful lifestyle, it's because they believe in God's great forgiveness, and they see the people in leadership in the church as "above the law" so to speak.

Because dogma puts fear in your mind. And when you are afraid, you don't dare ask, rationalize or question.

In that vulnerable state, any clergy takes advantage of you
