What muscles are most important to jumping and how important are they. I know calves are 30% of your jumping ability. WHat is the SINGLE BEST jumping excercise

Try the jump rope. Also, my husband bought these things at a sports store called Jump Soles. They specifically target the muscles used for jumping...he loves basketball.
They look kind of silly, but if you just walk around the house with them, or you have a hoop at home, that's enough to help out.

Your lower leg muscles are more than 30% of your jumping ability. However, the BEST jumping exercise is NOT an actual jumping exercise at all - simple toe raises to tighten and tone your muscles are the simplest and best exercise for you to do.

Squats. But you have to have good upper body strength to be a good jumper. Search plyometrics exercises on the Net, but take notw that Allan Houston (Det/NYK) trained with a high jump coach but it did him in. He retired. There are more important skilles besides jumping :) Good luck!
