1.12 mcg of synthroid. Should I have gradually added up starting at a lower dosage?

That's higher than I started on, but maybe your TSH results were high enough to justify it. It's not outrageously high - try it for a while and then get retested.

I hope synthroid will make as big a positive difference for you as it has for me. There are all sorts of things that got better that you wouldn't ever think related to low thyroid - it's more than just an energy thing. My random muscle pains stopped, my cholestorol returned to normal, etc.

Before prescribing synthroid you would have had your TSH or thyroid stimulating hormone levels checked. Synthroid is then prescribed as a replacement for the TSH your body is not producing therefore the amount prescribed is calculated on need. Without knowing what your TSH was how can we assess this? Your doctor will repeat your TSH at intervals and adjust your dose accordingly.

There's no way to know if the dosage is correct until you go back for blood work. The doctor will adjust it at that time.
