They all look for the same pregnancy hormone, hCG or chorionic gonadotropin.

I'm a nursing student so I know this hormone inside and out.

I checked out the site below and the Dollar Store test actually rated higher than many available at discount stores and local pharmacies, Dollar Store type ranked #7 in sensitivity.

I've used the Dollar Store type once. The results were negative, and what do ya know, I wasn't pregnant. When I was pregnant with my son and then again when I was pregnant with my daughter I bought the tests sold at wal-mart, which had the free test in the box. I already knew that I was pregnant. I still went and took both tests. What a shock, I was positive each and every test. I guess in my own mind I wanted the reassurance of the false/negative results.

Fact is that the test should work for everyone but they each state that they are not 100% accurate. If a person feels strongly that they are pregnant they should visit their doctor or local WIC office for further information and support.

I think it's funny - reading the answers and you get a "they totally work" and then someone who says "stay away from them they don't work!" Here's the bottom line, no matter what , if you pay $1 or $15 for a test you can get a false negative, in that situation you either wait, and try again, or verify the negative with your doctor. You can also pay $1 or $15 and get a positive, where you'd verify the results with your doctor. Do you get where I'm going with this? No matter what the test says, if you're not pregnant you're not, if you are, you'll see your doctor regardless of the price of the test! My friend used the dollar store pregnancy test, and recommends them. I never did an at home test because I always knew from symptoms. :)

I used the dollar store pregnancy test first and it told me the same thing that the ten dollar one from the drug store told me later--both were right considering I have a 5 week old baby boy now. And cheap is good.

I had one from there and it was right so yah its just as accurate as any other kind of pregnancy test its better to buy one from the dollar store then get an expensive one from some where else lol I'm 5 months with my first ;)

They work exactly the same as expensive ones...I found out I was pregnant 4 days before I missed my period with a cheapy dollar store test. I confirmed the next day with a more expensive test and it was positive as well.

These tests are so simple these days. They are also sold in bulk on the internet.

They are cheaper because they usually don't come in that fancy plastic casing or whatever. It'll just be the paper(test) part.

But whatever they look like, they usually work just as fine as the rest. They may not be as sensitive as the "early" tests they have at the drug stores, but they are fine for a late period test.

They work just as well as any others. The only difference would be the sensitivity level- you probably couldn't take this one a day before your missed period and get an accurate reading. BUT, if you are talking a couple days or a week after your missed period (which is when people usually test anyway) it would be just as accurate

Good for them. The dollar stores have some really good products. Just because they aren't brand names and you get them for $1 doesn't mean that their cheap or bad quality. I've never purchased anything bad from a dollar store.

They have been selling them for some time now and I have a few friends that have gotten an accurate 1 or 2 line result.
I dont see a difference between them and EPT, especially beings I do not favor + - HPTs
