Try weighing yourself before and after to find out (assuming that water loss is only due to sweat, not any other bodily fluid).
I suspect that there is no net gain or loss - we lose a bit through sweat and gain a bit by osmosis into the outer skin cells (causing fingers to go wrinkly).
PS: There seems to be some confusion about exactly what 'osmosis' is on this page. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a semi-permeable membrane from a weaker to a stronger solution. Usually, bath water is the weaker solution, so water is drawn into just those cells forming the outermost layer of our skin. The inner layers of our skin are impermeable to water, so the water does not go any further and certainly does not go into our bloodstream. It just causes a temporary puffiness in the outer skin layer, causing it to wrinkle up.

When we are bathing, our skin is supposed to loose water due to a process called osmosis, which is the transfer of water molecules from a denser area to an area of lower density through a semi permeable membrane. But, there is a special oil present on our skin, which does not allow the water to get out from our body. However, this special layer of oil is not available on our hands, which is why our hands get wrinkled when dipped in water for too long.

You do not absorb water from your bath. Your skin gets wrinkled because you actually lose some water .

No it doesn't absorb the water but it does absorb the chemicals in the water. Frightening when you think of what we put in the water. Take a look at this web page.

yes in a bath you would absorb water, if you were in a bath of salt water your body would absorb even more water than fresh due to the bodies composition. It also take longer to drown in salt water than fresh water due to the absorbtion

No, we actually lose water - the bath water is more concentrated because it has bath gel in it, therefore the processes of osmosis cause water to move from where water is less concentrated to where it is more concentrated - that is why skin goes wrinkly in the bath - loss of water!

Absolutly. Water travels from areas of high conentration (the bath water) to areas of low concentration (your skin cells). The process is called Osmosis.
