that's true that politicians are mostly unworthy. i even think that the voting list should contain a choice of "no worthy candidate". but not voting is no solution. you can try voting the comparatively saner person. this way, you'd be an active part of this biggest democracy.

The danger in India is that if you don't vote, the political party with greater money/muscle power would cast a bogus vote. If you decide to vote, ensure you are the first in the queue in your booth, else the above would happen. Haven't you read what happened in Chennai Corporation elections. The ruling party goondas did not allow the general public to vote in majority of the booths. You call this the world's GREATEST DEMOCRACY. I just pity your ignorance.

By choosing not to vote, one already makes the choice, but really one has no right to complain when the election's over & the leaders you did not want are sworn into office because you did not go to the polls to vote who you believe can do a better job than other candidates on the ballot.

There are many reasons to vote. Even if your vote doesn't matter.
As a registered voted, YOU have direct access and influence to the law making procedure. Through the courts, as a jurist.
As a registered voter, you are required to make yourself available for jury duty. Verdicts you reach on a case, help set "case law", which eventually become law, sometimes.
Personally, I believe that voting should be required by law. Too many people have either refused to vote, or become totally disgusted with the current system. Thereby allowing a minority control. Introducing bills that are completely archaic and out of touch with the general population.

If it is the worlds "Greatest Democracy" than not voting is as important as doing so!
I don't know if I would call it wise, because if you are dissatisfied with the one who won, you could only wine!

I think you should vote, but ONLY if you have bothered to educate yourself on the candidates and the issues. Voting is a big responsibility and I would rather have people not vote at all than vote ignorantly.

Your vote is probably the most powerful voice you have in our form of government.
Better to write in Mickey Mouse than to not go and vote.
