Well Brasil is a third world country, so poverty is very high there, in Brasil your either filthy rich or very poor, there's no in between, most of the greatest legends of the game from Brasil were very poor, so i think that motivates them more then anything, cause it's there chance to do something with there life instead of wasting it, so many players have done it, so many Brasilians know they can do it, and that's why there so competitive, and you wonder why Brasil produces so many talented and skilled players....

Soccer is a game that does not need any gear. For tennis you have to buy the racket. for hockey you have to buy the whole gear. Soccer, all you need is one ball for 22 people. Yuo can paly it on the streets without any expensive Gym enrolment.

Besides soccer is the best way to have fun with out having to spend a penny. I don't think they play because of money. They play for fun, the mone comes later.

OK, I will try to answer your question but make it fun(not funny)too. The reason is as poor kids can not afforded to get their own toys, so they get together and shared one ball, and also following theirs ancestors' tradition, OK...have fun my friends! I really love Brazilian footballers, they are great.
