I weighed 108 at my first doc. appt., but I was already 9 weeks along by that time. I only gained 16 more pounds, and at my first visit after my baby, I was back down to 105. So yes, I immediately weighed less, and I also had a small (almost 6 lb.) but very healthy baby.

I made the awful mistake the first time of eating like crazy. I gained over 70 pounds. So the second pregnancy I knew that was not necessary and I could basically eat just like I was maybe adding a small amount extra. You aren't really eating for two. The baby is so small and needs so little so as long as you are eating healthy you don't have to increase your food intake much. The second pregnancy I only gained 10 pounds and weighed less at my first check-up than I did when I got pregnant. I wasn't able to breasfeed the first time and have been this time. I have actually lost an additional 20 pounds and my daughter is now 6 months old. You don't have to gain a lot of weight because you are pregnant, just eat right.

Everyone is different. They want you to gain from 25-35lbs if you are healthy and normal weight. If you weigh too much, they'd have you gain less. Don't not eat because you are afraid to gain anymore weight. Stay healthy for your baby- exercise and eat healthy, and you should be fine. I lost 28 out of the 35lbs I gained in the first two weeks- I had a c-section, so I still had a lot of air in my belly. but after that, I lost almost all of it within the month that I had my son. If you eat healthy and work out you will be fine.
Also remember- the last month or two, you will gain 1lb a week- and it's because the baby is gaining a lot of weight near the end. It's NORMAL, so don't freak out!

20 pounds is a normal weight to gain while pregnant.thats what i gained with my last child and 3 days after i had him i weighed 3 pounds more than i did when i got pregnant.he was a healthy 7 lbs 5 oz.but restricting what you eat just so you dont gain weight is wrong.just eat healthy and the weight you do gain will fall off as soon as you have the baby.

Most women don't plan on gaining extra weight but it can happen anyway. If you eat healthy nutrient rich foods and remain active throughout your pregnancy you should be fine.
You should gain roughly 25-35 lbs. during your pregnancy. (Based on a pregnancy weight gain estimator. See link below.)
Over the last two trimesters you should gain about 4 lbs. every 4 weeks. If you gained the average of the range above, this is where the weight would go (totals are rounded):
Maternal:
Uterus2.39 lbs.
Breasts1.0
Blood3.09
Water4.15
Fat8.27
Subtotal18.89
Fetal:
Fetus7.5
Placenta1.6
Amniotic Fluid1.97
Subtotal11.07
Total29.96

I gained like thirty lbs during my pregnancy, i lost most of my pregnancy weight right away. You should eat healthy make sure you get enough, vegetables and fruit and protein. Don't skip meals because you want to stay skinny, dont' be vain think of a healthy baby. If you gain too much during pregnancy you always can go on a diet after the birth. some people gain alot of weight during pregnancy because they don't eat right but as long as you eat right be happy with whatever you gain. Its hard to just gain 20lb when you have all the fluids and baby that add to it. Don't worry about your appearance when your pg your suppost to get bigger.

Yes, they say to gain between 25-30 lbs. Just take your doc's advice as he knows what's best for both you and the baby. Most people weigh more after they have the baby because you need the extra fat if you plan on breastfeeding.

average healthy gain is 25-30; most will be lost after delivery---depending on if you breast feed, usually back to normal wt. by 6 wks after birth, also, some women hang on to a few pounds with each pregnancy, but are still healthy and don't look bad...

I weighed 172 when I had my baby and lost 40 pounds in the first two-three months after she was born. It will come off, don't worry. Breastfeeding helps, too.
