Absolutely. Just check out the dissent and repression on college campuses (especially Harvard) when more conservative leaning guest speakers are invited to address campus gatherings.

I think both sides do a terrible job with this. The PC quiche eating liberals have PCed us to death. They try to restrict private religious practice by students, which really burns me up.
At the same time, conservatives try to legislate limitations on freedom of speech, too. As reprehesible as flag burning is, it is protected freedom of speech. Riders and regulations restricting what doctors can or cannot tell patients about abortion is also a limitation of speech.
The thing is, everyone has good reasons for their restrictions. They just don't hold water.

Sometimes. Especially the liberal extremists. Moderate liberals are just as reasonable as any moderate conservative, and tend to be respectful.
The extremists name-call and sling mud, and then when they're being beaten in debate, they call their opponent racist, talk over them, and give them absolutely no respect.
I've watched this happen in Congressional debates. The ultra-liberal representatives won't allow the conservative representatives speak. Seriously.
This behavior also runs rampant on here. There is a group of liberals who accuse EVERYONE who disagrees with them of being "multiple profiling propagandists."
You've been around awhile, I'm sure you can guess who I'm talking about.
They also resorted to calling a person (me) a racist when they were losing the debate.
I'm not saying that these people are typical liberals. I would hope that they're not, and I know that there are many decent liberals out there.
But this is my take on it.

You need to drop the idea of liberal and Conservative, as you know it. Neo Con's, ( the people in charge now) may be republicans, and considered conservatives. That's as far from reality as you can get. Not all democrats are liberals. The fact is, there is a small elitist fashion, embedded in out government that cause all the grief. And they're both Dem. and Rep.

Liberals support freedom of speech not just because it's constitutional, but because it's a human right. Conservatives deem freedom of speech a 'priviledge with limits'

the only place you could even begin to argue that liberals suppress freedom of speech and/or religion is prayer in school.. and it's not suppression.. it's upholding a founding principle of our nation.. separation of church and state..
