These are the squares written in base 7...

1² = 1 = 1 base 7
2² = 4 = 4 base 7
3² = 9 = 1*7 + 2 = 12 base 7
4² = 16 = 2*7 + 2 = 22 base 7
5² = 25 = 3*7 + 4 = 34 base 7

Following the pattern:

6² = 36 = 5*7 + 1 = 51 base 7
7² = 49 = 1*49 + 0*7 + 0 = 100 base 7
8² = 64 = 1*49 + 2*7 + 1 = 121 base 7
9² = 81 = 1*49 + 4*7 + 4 = 144 base 7
