1)Lucky Number Slevin

A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) into the middle of a war being plotted by two of New York City's rival crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them...before they get him.

2)Cinderella Man

Russell Crowe reunites with 'A Beautiful Mind' director Ron Howard in this story inspired by the life of legendary athlete Jim Braddock, a once-promising light heavyweight boxer forced into retirement after a string of losses in the ring. As the nation enters the darkest years of the Great Depression, Braddock accepts a string of dead-end jobs to support his wife, Mae (Renée Zellweger), and their children, while never totally abandoning his dream of boxing again.

Thanks to a last-minute cancellation, Braddock finds himself back in the ring against the second-ranked world contender -- and to everyone's amazement, Braddock wins. Despite being pounds lighter than his opponents and sustaining repeated injuries to his hands, Braddock continues to fight against challengers and win. Carrying on his shoulders the hopes and dreams of the disenfranchised masses, Braddock, dubbed the "Cinderella Man," faces his toughest challenger in Max Baer (Craig Bierko), the heavyweight champion of the world, renowned for having killed two men in the ring.

I´ll go with these recomendations considering this is what i want to rent this weekend:

Nacho Libre. With Jack Black, it´s about a monk who turned out to become a wrestler in mexican WWF. A comedy, so nothing to worry about and just have a good time.

Click. I rented this film yesterday, and i liked a lot. It´s another comedy, but this one with a message. And got Kate Becksindale, so you refresh your eyes a lot.

Walk the Line: I haven´t watch this movie yet, but i will this weekend. It´s on HBO, so you don´t have to rent it if you have that channel. It´s the story of Jhonny Cash, with Reese Whiterspoon and the bad dude from Gladiator.

Almost famous,
absolutley brilliant tale of a 14 year old music journalist wannabe who gets a dream job touring with an up and coming band (Stillwater) in the seventies. It's very funny, touching and has a magnificent soundtrack.
Probably my fav film of all time

Dazed and confused.
The tale of school kids trying to party after the last day of school in the seventies.

The Butterfly effect,
Be careful what you wish you could change about your past.

I don't know what you want so I can only think of the one logical movie franchise from which to rent from:
DIE HARD!
Come on, when is something, 'with a vengence' not the best thing ever.
I'm pretty much joking here. But stick to the classics. Those old movies that have been tested time and time again. They're enjoyable. There's a reason people keep watching them.

you haven't told us what types of films you usually like-would make it easier to make recommendations.
but, i would definitely recommend 'lucky number slevin', as is suggested above. it's clever and entertaining.
for british comedy you can't go wrong with 'shaun of the dead', it is hilarious!
or you could go out to the cinema and watch the borat movie. it's supposed to be absolutely brilliant, in a cringy, ohmygodicantbelievehesaidthatandtheyagreed!!! kind of way.
enjoy
