We end the year with Ohio St. undefeated and a bunch of 1 loss teams.
Arkansas wins the SEC Championship.
Is Arkansas the second best team in the country just beacuse they are from the SEC?
Please take your homer caps off for this question.

jcurran - I told you to take your homer cap off. The question has nothing to do with Florida. Pay attention, I know thats tough for you SEC types, Arkansas wins the SEC in my question.

Craig - Arkansas lost to USC (big) who then lost to Oregon St? Explain to me how that puts them ahead of a Texas team whose only loss is to Ohio st.

Oh good, Jason's back. You never answered my question. Is a Razorback something they sell at Wal-Mart?

Jason - Believe it or not, I actually hope Arkansas can win the SEC. But, I'd back off on that beating down Texas thing if I were you. We all know why Arkansas left the Southwest Conference.

The SEC is a joke, they play each other and thats suppose to make me believe that they are a good conference. Who else have they played, 1-6 as a conference against the top 25 outside of conference, what a power conference. Arkansas wont get the nod because Boise State would still end up undefeated and if so they should play OSU for the title.

No, Arkansas is not the second best team in the country, no matter what week it is. They are 13. There are 3 other SEC teams with one loss ahead of them. Actually if you think of it hypothetically, Auburn is ranked higher in the BCS than Arkansas. If Arkansas does win out the rest of the regular season, they go to the SEC championship. And their wins also help Auburn's BCS ranking. So in theory (and most bowl prediction forums), Auburn will go to a BCS top pick bowl above Arkansas because of the points. I don't think Arkansas will be the highest ranked team in the country when this is all over with. There are a lot of people they have to jump in front of, and most of these one loss teams are not going to lose again. Undefeated Ohio St will be playing someone else for the national title. I don't know if at this time it will be an SEC school. But it will not be Arkansas, they have 4 confernece games left this season, and they have to play TN. (You really think they are going to lose to the Razorbacks?) They are close, but no cigar.

I'm not a fan of any SEC team, but in the scenario you describe the argument can definitely be made for an Arkansas-OSU title game.
Your scenario eliminates Auburn and Florida, while Louisville, WVU and Rutgers would all be out because they play in the weaker Big East. Michigan would drop from losing to OSU, and I don't think Texas or Notre Dame deserve to be ahead of Arkansas if things play out like you said.
I have a hard time imagining Arkansas running the table and winning the SEC, but if everything fell right, they'd have a shot. However, I'm not counting on them being in the national championship.

Arkansas did get destroyed by usc... and barely won against alabama and vanderbilt but then they went TO Auburn and beat them 27 to 10. Ever since then they have been playing very good football. Gus Malzahn is a very good offensive cooridinator and its very possible that Arkansas could win their remaining games and if so the sec championship. However I dont think that they are second best team in the country but they should be ranked higher in the bcs polls.

No, Arkansas would not be the best one loss team in the SEC, even if they were they would not get the invite to play for the National Championship. Their not that good, and I don't think they could stand up to Ohio States offence or their defence, It would be like the USC game they would imbarced the the state of Arkansas not to mention it would imbarece the SEC for them to get such an invite.....

Nuke Lefties is just upset because his sorry *** Texas team is having a hard time and is not going to a national championship this year. Typical spoiled Texas fan.
I buy Razorback material at Wal-Mart all the time. If you give me your address, I will be glad to send you a shirt. Then, the next time we beat you down in Texas, you can wear the shirt of a real team and you won't have to walk out of the stadium with tour head hung down crying.
We left the Southwest Conference because it lacked competition. There was only Texas. We might not have a winning year every single year in the SEC, but the teams we play are better.
irishfan4, are you smoking crack? OSU would kill them. I would rather see Texas play them again. At least it would be a close game! You need to stay on your little blue field and stop dreaming about winning a championship.

Honestly, I can't say Arkansas is the second best team in the country even if they do win the SEC. Remember that first game they played where USC came to town and proceded to thrash them-and then USC goes on to barely win over unranked opponents in 3-straight games, then finally loses one to an unranked team. I realize Arkansas has came a long way since then, but still, that was an average USC team they lost to badly their first game.

No, Arkansas isn't the second best team in the country.
And Wisconsin doesn't deserve any respect, especially with the joke schedule they play (Bowling Green, Western Illinois, San Diego State, and Buffalo is not quality OOC opposition).

No they are not.
This is another reason for a NATIONAL PLAYOFF!
Arkansas would not get respected by the media/ranking mongers just like my Wisconsin Badgers.
Here's to a great Wisconsin - SEC match up again in the Capital One Bowl.

Arkansas is a good team, however I don't know if they have the talent and athletic ability that other teams have. I don't see them winning out there season. They do go to a good bowl though.
