Summing up the correct parts of what others have said, and adding a bit:
1. It's at the western end of Chelsea.
2. It's named after a 17th-century predecesor of the present pub, which also had a tea garden back then
3. The tavern took that name because this was a very remote spot in those days

An area of London, England, The World's End Estate is bounded by the King's Road, Chelsea on one side and Cheyne Walk on the bank of the Thames on the other. On the King's Road side there is a pub called The World's End which approximately marks the western end of the Chelsea area (as Sloane Square marks the eastern end). The World's End area was home to Gandalf's Garden and the Hippy counterculture in the 1960s and to Vivienne Westwood's shop ("Sex") in the punk period of the 1970s.
Areas named World's End
* An area in the London Borough of Enfield between Enfield Town and Oakwood.
* a village in Berkshire
* the original name of the railway station now called Wivelsfield on the London to Brighton Mainline.
* part of the area of limestone outcrops north of Llangollen, North Wales, known as Eglwyseg, which lies on the Offa's Dyke Path and is popular with walkers and rock climbers.

This area is around the Kings Road in Chelsea. I was told that the name comes from the pub The Worlds End.

In days of yore when knights were bold and etc etc....
this was about as far as most of the lower classes ever managed to get from their hovels in the city and west end. It is pure speculation - but possible - that the name originated with them perhaps as long ago as the 9th or 10th century.
I noticed another speculator who suggest you visit - there are certainly some very ugly and dirty places within 2 minutes of the pub. lol

It's named after the pub of the same name - just like Royal Oak and Elephant and Castle.
