There are an awful lot of "I am not gay"answers on this section. Is it me, am I missing something here?
Well I AM gay and I DON'T care for old Lisa at all.
Point being that gay or straight or anything inbetween we are all human and all have different tastes.

Straight away they start --- "I'm not..." WHO BLOODY CARES - you weren't asked if you were gay or not - answer the question as put !!!
They like the show tunes because they are tuneful and memorable, unlike some of the rubbish that purports to be music nowadays, and the reasonably good singers have become gay 'icons' because they knew which side their bread was buttered and played to the crowd without making snide remarks about the audience who was keeping them in work.

That's some, by no means all, and they're usually older. I think a lot of it is because they didn't find depictions that really reflected them in the media, so they had to make their own. Also, some female celebrities, like Liza and Cher, are really easy for men to dress up as with the right makeup and such.

Show tunes are catchy. And Liza (btw its liza with a z) back in her day was sexy with a powerful voice
