microbiology is the emerging field of interest.
It can and plays a very important role in the pharma as we can force them to produce certain materials of our interest beyond their natural tedencies.
now a days genetic engineering and microbiology can both be used together for further increasing the scope.

Microbiology is basically a study of minute organisms normally seen under the microscope.
Many of these are disease causing creatures and we need certain chemicals to defend ourselves against them -called " antimicrobials".
The pharmaceutical Industry is always at its edge to produce newer antimicrobials to treat these infectious diseases and its a Billion Dollar Industry. Other chemicals that cannot be taken orally but used as claensing agents outside the human body are known as decontaminants or disinfectants and are again developed by the pharma industry.

Microbiology deals with all aspects of microorganisms. They include viruses, bacteria, fungi, protists. Many of them are disease-causing.Their study enables the researchers to know their behaviour, substances they produce that cause harm to the human body, and if so what kind of harm and where.Pharmacologists must know everything about them to manufacture drugs and chemicals that can counter their growth and if possible kill them. This has to be done in a specific manner so that the body cells of the human is not affected. The prime object of a pharmacologist is to discover/ manufacture drugs that are specific to the particular species of microorganisms. This is the reasons why it is important fo know the molecular profile of each microorganism;the way they reproduce, the manner in which their genes are activated, the kind of proteins they have. This enables one to develop strategies to counter them.

science is designed not in boxes, theyre all related! u may not realise it, but bacteria are complex organisms which has specific metabolisms. and all bacteria have DIFFERENT metabolic reactions. if all the reacs were the same, then theyd be of the same specie. Therefore, pharm can utilise specific reactions and study how it relates to their study. for example, if they find out that a bact is resistant to a disease, they can study more specifically and try to apply it to their industry. for example, they can ask if its a certain product formed that makes them resistant? is there a way to produce the product? or is it a certain set of reactions? is there a way to make humans have that reaction by using certain chemicals to stimulate them? so you see, u must think of them interchangeably.
