I totally hate this and I can't stand how people can even put eye drops or stick a plastic lens into their eye. It looks so scary. LASIK is like my worst fear EVER.

People do not believe in past lives but I think on occasion that you have had previous fear. Like not a thing can make me like peanuts but I have a peanut allergy. Because I had a bad experience I avoid peanuts and read all the labels to see if things have touched a nut table. I can eat Heath bars with almonds but I so do not have a problem with the almonds hidden in the bar. So I hate to play with my sight but I wear contacts. I had to get over the fear by washing my hands and having the contact lens class and I pop them in not a problem touching my own eye.
It is just some one else doing it. Lasik is a problem but because it is a rather new surgery like liposuction. I face the idea of all the papers you sign stating we are not responsible for loss of eyesight do you understand. So the doctor will not get sued.
Then the idea it is new and ground breaking. Maybe they are taking out a bad lens but maybe I need the bad lens. My mother said there is a vail over the eye and maybe things in the world you are not meant to see. Things move all around us in the sprit world and you would go mad if you see them. So maybe God dulls your vision up only to open it up when you are stronger and able to handle things. This is just my point of view to keep you going.

Surprisingly there's no term for this, which is amazing considering the phobias that do have distinct terms. The best I could do is AICHMOPHOBIA (fear of needles or pointed objects), OMMATOPHOBIA (fear of eyes) or maybe OPTOPHOBIA (fear of opening one's eyes). So maybe a combo term would do it AICHMOMMATOPHOBIA--fear of sharp objects and eyes.

I wasn't a big fan of the concept of LASIK but I had it done last year. They gave me a couple of different kinds of sedatives, which made it much easier. And it was SO worth it!

It is called common sense to protect your eyes.

However, once educated on the eye and the sensations attached to it, you realize that many of your fears can be allayed. If you see people actually having laser surgery, once mildly relaxed with some sedative and a local anaesthetic in the eye, they seem to handle it quite well..and I am sure that they would have been a bit nervous.

Pain!!
I don't know the medical term for it. It's an instinct though, to cringe away from something around your eyes or face.
