How many examples are there of whodunit novels where the perp was indeed the butler?

The butler did it in one novel only. "The Butler Strikes Again" by A.J.Butler. It went out of print after the author was murdered by his ....you guessed it.

For a classic example, look at The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie - the longest running play in London, and now a book. Although the phrase is generally associated with her work, this is the only thing she wrote in which the butler actually did do it.

I don't know about novels...but I just went to a play that was based on the old movie "Clue" and Mr. Green did it in the conservatory with the candlestick! I never suspected the butler for one minute.

i have not heard of one but i think it will have to be a rather old one because not many people have a butler now. maybe u shud right a novel where it was the butler.

you could do a rather new one where it is a celebrity and her P.A does it

i don't know but u mentioning it it's almost alway's the butler crazy husband or insane wife- or rarely a set-up
