Do you think men have a role? Also, would you object to men marching in Reclaim the Night Protests?

Some examples of how men have assisted the women's movement have been through taking on full time parenting roles so that their partner's can work. Also, groups such as men against sexual assult and rape, men who work in the legal system who are changing laws to protect the right's of women, etc. Also, I think it is strange that there is mention of equality. If women are given equal rights and the same benefits that men enjoy currently, what happens when women realise that they have lost a part of themselves that make them "special"? Does that mean that the feminist movement is only about gaining equal rights, or does it mean something more significant ?
By the way, surely it shows just by asking this question that I am a feminist man. Shesh!

Forget roles and society expectations: equal. It's simple. Yet women, or many other groups, can't do a damn thing untill our dear president takes his religion out of the office.

According to a woman I met at a "Take Back the Night" march some years ago, my role was to "get my a$$ back to the rallying point and make sandwiches with the rest of the b1tches".

I no longer support this particular event. Any organization that can engender such hate oes not deserve my support. Not to mention that the premise behind the march is ludicrous. It's not safe for ANYONE to be out after dark. In my town anyhow.

As far as what role did men play in the women's movement.. I think they had a big role.. women worked hard to get us the rights we have today, to get men to listen, but many men supported it, otherwise we would not be where we were today..... I think men had a very important role... Obviously many men supported women's rights... as far as them Marching... if they want to support that cause, I think it's great.. the more men that care - then all the effort put into those marches have done their job... I think it's great-as long as they are there to really support the cause.. and not make a joke out of it

I definitely think men should not only be allowed, but encouraged to participate. Men in reclaim the night...I'm not sure about that one. The point is for women to feel safe again, so in a way I can see why they'd prefer a women's only march. Then again, I don't believe it's healthy to separate women's and men's marches; this is a form of segregation, and will not contribute to unity, trust and communication.

The womens movement is gonna collapse, islamic factions are creeping in and want to take over the united states. Its a matter of not if but when we get nuked. America is gonna lose ALL its freedom, their talking about opening the borders of mexico and canada like europe for trade reasons and more power. The liberated movement will be missed and hopelessly gone because the same movement that started will collapse on itself because of open issues like gay marriage. Like sodom and gommorah it will implode and be destroyed.

I think it's up to real men to ignore the whole thing. It serves no purpose and achieves nothing in spite of the promises it makes. Women will figure this out sooner or later...some already have.

As a sociologist, i would have to say that the role of men is the same as the role of women, we should all be working towards the same goal.

as a woman, i'd have to say the role of men in the women's movement is to lie down or get out of the bloody way so we can do it properly.
