You can easily connect it to your TV by finding the "audio in" jacks at the front or rear of the television. These are usually in the "RCA" jack format (1 - red & 1 - black).

You will need to purchase an inexpensive ($5 or so) adapter cable to connect the "speaker out" from your noebook to the "audio in" on the TV. If uncertain just bring the notebook with you to an audio or electronics store & have them find the cable for you. You may even ask them to test the cable on one of their floor model TV's.

Good quality speakers are not cheap .... I would go for the TV connection.

Point : naturally, you will have to set your television to the channel (ex : S-Video) that the "audio in" connectors feed into into to hear the music on your TV speakers.

The best new idea for laptop speakers is to have ones that get signal and power from the USB connection. Altec Lansing XT1 are a good option for this. If you need battery power or AC for power, you may consider Creatives' TravelSound series.

Philips and Bose also make some good speakers, but they are harder to find in stores...

You will need to get a 1/8" to RCA adapter, such as the one in the link below. Then plug the small end into the speaker out port on the laptop, and the other end into the inputs on the TV.

You can connect the laptop to the TV - you need a special cable (not sure what it's called but you could try asking at PC world or somewhere). We do that as it means that you can watch films/play games etc on a bigger screen than just on your laptop.
