Anything plugged in, even a cell phone charger not in use, will draw electricty from the outlet causing your electric bill to go up. There is electric current running through the wires which escapes as heat energy. In addition to racking up cost, you should unplu unused appliances for safety reasons as well. Keep your toaster, blender ...etc ... unplugged until you need them. Prevents them from accidentally catching fire while you are not home.

Depends on what it is. A T.V., VCR, DVD player, Computer, Refrigerator (I know that it is always working)all use electricity even when they are turned off if they are plugged in. These are known as Vampire electronics for just that reason.

Hi,
Anything that displays a clock that is plugged in will cost electricity. Microwave,radio..coffee maker... and of course a fridge or freezer.
The only way to test your electric meter yourself is to UNplug EVERYthing in your home, and then go out and see if your meter is still spinning. If it is, then you are paying for another apartments electricity.

Yes. Although it may seem insignificant, it's still there. Example: your VCR/DVD player...keeps the time. Unplug it, and away goes the clock. Your oven that has a clock on it...your computer that keeps all things in check...etc. There's many things that can rack up your energy bill.
