I had a tubal banding done November 2002. My cycles are usually totally regular, every 23 days. I was due to start 10/16 but didn't. This is day # 18 with no period, only light pink spotting here & there that comes & goes. I took a pregnancy test 10/27 & it was
negative. Yes, I'm having sex - but how likely is it that I could be pregnant? I would appreciate any answers/advice. Thanks!

I did use the EPT test, not a cheapie. I had nausea (gone now), my breasts hurt for 2 weeks so badly that I couldn't stand for them to be touched (better now), I've been so tired I could lay down & sleep anywhere. I've had 2 children already, I know symptoms, believe me! Also, I did have periods for 5 months of my first pregnancy. Can't decide if I want to be pregnant again or not - my son is almost 12 & my daughter is 8, so we're in a good place right now.

I believe the statistic is that 1 in 100,000 women get pregnant after having their tubes tied. And in most cases, the pregnancy ends up being ectopic. It is a possibility that you can get pregnant even after having the procedure, but it is not terribly likely. Check with your doctor if you are still unsure, especially if you are experiencing strong cramping in the left or right side of your stomach - as that can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.

Home pregnancy tests are normally accurate, however to be sure have a qualitative hCG assay (blood test for the pregnancy hormone - human chorionic gonadotropin).

It is important that pregnancies after tubal ligation are detected, due to the increased chances of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.

Pumpkin I strongly recommend a visit to your local doctor.

loss of peroid is not a good indicator of whether your pregnant or not . Most women will get their period when they are pregnant up until it has been months. Women usually show signs of pregnancy BEFORE they even loose their period. Unless you feel queasy all the time, your breasts feel odd, and you have to pee all the time, i'd have to say the loss or lack of your period means nothing in the pregnancy category but it don't mean you don't have other problems.

Not that likly you took a HPT 11 days after you missed your period and it was negative. The test would have shown if you were at that point. Most all test these days can tell you accurate results the day of your missed period. Sorry and good luck.

hey

u could be pregnant but the best thing to do is go to ur doctor and ask him just to be sure, ur light spotting/bleeding maybe be down to stress, dont worry because u will only worry more, the pregnancy test may of been negative because u havent given it enough time for ur hormones to change just hang tight and everything will be what it is goin to be

good luck and all the best x

Tubal banding is very effective but, not perfect. Although not likley, it is still possible for a little swimmer to get by and complete the deed.

Depends onthe test you bought. If it was a sheap one then I would suggest that you go get an EPT and if it was a EPT to begin with then I would say to contact your doc and get a blood test done there.

I would take one more preg test just to be sure.
If still neg, you need to make an appointment with your OB/GYN especially since you've had a medical procedure done in the past.
