I don't think Snape was in love with Lily, but I think Lupin was. At the least, she was a good friend. Reread the third book (or watch the movie.) I'm not sure that the words "Snape" and (romantic) "love" go in the same sentence.
We do need to know more about why he is the way he is, and which side he is truly on. I still argue that he is fighting for good--but in an increasingly difficult, if not compromising, position. I think Snape loves history, knowledge, scholarship, and the power that learning gives the learner. I think you can see what appears to be his killing of Dumbledore as an act of love to protect Malfoy, who may, oddly enough after all his snide comments and sucky attitudes, be more worthy of love than we had imagined. Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape presents a more attractive Snape than I imagined from reading the books.......But romantic love and Snape? I don't know.....I mean, the actor who portrays Snape has a certain hotness, IMHO, but the way I picture the character.....yuck!

I doubt it. There has been no hint of Snape having anything to do with Lily. Remember, he was hanging out with "purebloods" who would have kicked him out of their little clique if he started hanging around someone they thought was "beneath" them.
I predict snape will prove out to be the major heroic figure of the final book. He is not the villain he looks to be.
Wormtail will redeem himself and perform a heroic act to repay his lifedebt to Harry
I predict Death eaters will attack Harry at Privet Drive, it will look like they are going to kill everyone, but Dobby and other House elves will rise up in alignment with Harry and drive them off.

That's my opinion.
Don't know enough about the chronology to back it up. If he switched sides before he gave Voldemort the partial prophecy I'd have to reconsider the idea.

Yes, I believe so. That is why he so often compares Harry to his father.

i don't think he was in love with her, he just wanted to take her away from James so he couldn't have her.
