The pH scale is logarhytmic- it goes up by powers of ten.

From pH 2 to pH 1, there is 10 times the H+ concentration.
From pH 3 to pH 1, there is 100 times the H+ concentration.
And so on.

To answer your question, the pH will become more acidic by 3 points.

As the pH is defined as the NEGATIVE log (to the base 10)of the hydrogen ion concentration [H+], if [H+] increases by 1000, log[H+] increases by 3, so the pH goes DOWN by 3.

If concentration of H+ goes up 1000 times then the pH increases in 3 units (because of definition of pH = -log [H+]).

That´s it!

Good luck!

pH will decrease because as H+ concentration rises the acidity of the solution will increase causing the pH to fall lower.
