Ummmmm.....the Cubs couldn't do that trade, since Aramis Ramirez filed for free agency this week. Tough to trade a guy who's not on your team.

Bad for the Cubs, good for the Yankees. If this trade did happen, I would have to imagine that the Cubs at least got the Yankees to pay almost all of A-Rod's salary.
And all this would have to be assuming that the Cubs re-sign Aramis Ramirez.

Very bad for the Cubs. How can they let the only ace they have on their roster go? Anyways, A-Rod is not going anywhere because of his no-trade clause that is in his contract. He doesn't want to leave and look like a guy that runs away when things aren't going so well. So I guess it's really a non-issue but for the sake of arguement I would have to say that trade for the Yankees yes but for the Cubs absolutely not.

The Cubs can't trade Zombrano.....you NEVER trade your best pitcher for a hitter....good pitching is too hard to find. The Yankees know this first hand. They keep signing over the hill or broken down free agents because they don't have any pitching in the minor league system and the rest of the league has learned not to trade their best pitchers to the Yankees. I would like to see A-Rod in Chicago, maybe the Yankees would take a chance on Mark Prior & Cesar Izturis.

That would be a crappy deal. The Yankess should trade Gay-Rod to a club that is willing to send a package of prospects that are ready to come into the big league level or young pitchers. Sure Carlos Zambrano would help the Yanks right away, but they don't need another bat like Ramirez. They can go out and sign another middle of the pack 3rd baseman and get pitching help. I would suggest a starter and a good middle reliever, at the very least.

The cubs currently do not have Aramis Ramirez under contract. Also, Carlos Zambrano is their only good pitcher, assuming his recent back injuries are not going to be chronic (thanks again Dusty for destroying a dominant pitching staff).
Bad trade.

Cubs get offers all the time for Big Z...and they will never trade him. The kid is still under 25, just a puppy, and will be a Cub until he retires and they raise his number up the flag pole with Banks, Sandburg, Williams and Santo.
Plus A-Rod is 3 years past his prime...and he's never been a winner...he could end up in a Cubs uniform, but, it won't be for Zambrano.

it really is the component, the Cubs CAN"T commerce Ramirez except Ramirez waives his No commerce Clause which surely he has suggested he received't do. there's no rationalization for the Cubs to hurry Vitters. The Cubs might want to easily enable Ramirez play out his settlement for something of the year and hit loose organization, except Ramirez differences his ideas and waives his NTC. BQ1: i'm not very acquainted with him, so i do not comprehend. BQ2: he will in all likelihood finally end up platooning if he doesn't get to commence daily at 1B/OF

Aramis is a free agent, they can't trade him. Plus the Cubs don't have enough talent to make a decent trade for A-Rod.

Well for one they cant do that since Aramis Ramirez is a free agent, and 2nd sure the Yanks would do it but the Cubs would be stupid if they did.
