People kill themselves because the burden of life has become to great and they're not thinking straight.

Suicide is a crime because technically it is murder.

. But the ultimate question of why an individual takes his/her own life is not one that can ever be answered. That answer died with the individual. Typically, causes of suicide are multiple. They may include the individual’s self-image, their perception of a given situation or of life in general, childhood issues that remain unresolved, and childhood needs that have never been met.

t is a myth that all people who contemplate or attempt suicide are mentally ill. While some may have a history of mental illness or a current mental illness, all people who contemplate suicide are confronted with strong feelings such as sadness, hopelessness, fear, and anger. The important point is that, at the time, the individual sees limited if any options for resolving their frustrations except death.

Nearly 30 percent of suicide victims provided some type of warning prior to the act itself. It appears that people who commit suicide are individuals who are unable to deal adequately with their stress and know of no other alternative.

In the United States, suicide has never been punished as a crime nor penalized by property forfeiture or ignominious burial. Historically, various states listed the act as a felony, but all were reluctant to enforce it. By 1963, six states still considered attempted suicide a crime (North and South Dakota, Washington, New Jersey, Nevada, and Oklahoma). By the early 1990s only two US states still listed suicide as a crime, and these have since removed that classification. In some U.S. states, suicide is still considered an unwritten "common law crime,"

As a common law crime, suicide can bar recovery for the family of the suicidal person in a lawsuit unless the suicidal person can be proven to have been "of unsound mind." That is, the suicide must be proven to have been an involuntary, not voluntary, act of the victim in order for the family to be awarded money damages by the court.

People do it because they don't see a way out of the situation that they are in. I tried once and it was because I felt that I had tried every option but because of the state of mind I was in I didn't see ALL the answers there. Allot of people when depressed and such think that no one understands them or care and its not true. So they feel like that if the die all there trouble and the trouble they believe they are creating for everyone else is solved. What they don't understand is that people love then and they make it that much harder for them by taking an easy way out.

They feel as though they have exhausted all their options and wherever the problem they have is still continuing however its usually the case that they really havent tried everything that is possible

But some people are just mentally unstable so possibly they cant mentally comprehend what they are doing but they do it only to end the misery
